About BTCDS
At Behind the Curtain Dance Studio LLC, we’ve been providing affordable, quality instruction since opening our doors. Our highly trained and certified instructors have a wealth of experience in teaching and performing various styles of dance. We have a passion for the art of dance and for helping others discover their inner dancer.
Our goal is to create a fun, safe and nurturing environment in which children and adults of all ages are able to learn different kinds of dance at affordable prices.

Behind the Curtain offers a large variety of dance classes for all skill levels. Our experienced instructors are passionate about helping each dancer achieve their highest potential, while also having as much fun as possible. Tuition is $27-$37/month depending on what you choose with discounts for multiple classes and family members.

Erica (Sheeley) Spirk
Owner & Director
Erica graduated from Shawnee High School in 2008. She married Jacob in 2015. She taught 8th grade Spanish for Springfield City Schools for 10 years. She started BTCDS in late 2013. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Education and a minor in coaching from Wilmington College. She also has a Master’s Degree in Education from Wright State University. She has taken dance lessons for more than 30 years and has taught dance and acro lessons since 2005. She is married and has a 4.5 year old named Rowen, a 1.5 old named Aria and two dogs, Bellatrix and Luna. Erica loves spending every moment that she's not working, with her kids.
Mariah Simison
Competitive & Recreational Dance Instructor, Assistant Director and Curriculum Coordinator
Mariah has more than 10 years personal cheer experience, was cheer captain on a winning competitive high school team and has coached cheer for more than five years. She coached two teams to victory in cheer and dance at all competitions. She was on dance team in high school for two years. She had training at "Just Off Broadway" when she started college and at Dance Etc. for boys break dance. She taught all levels of hip hop, boys break dancing and tumbling at Dance. Etc. in Milford for two years. She also choreographed for hip hop teams and solos that placed top five or won at dance competitions. Dance is her passion and so are children. She has three boys and understands aspects of teaching and being a parent.
Robin Sheeley
Administrator
Robin has worked in human resources with Meijer for more than 40 years and has experience in fundraising. She is also Erica's mom and the #1 dance mom! She enjoys spending time with her grandkids, getting to know the dance family, watching OSU football and spending time with friends and family.
Kristina Hawkins
Competitive Cheer Coach & Instructor
Kristina graduated from Shawnee High School and Springfield Clark CTC in 2009. Kristina has a degree in Graphic Design from Clark State Community College. She has cheered and danced for more than 15 years with many years of acro lessons. She coaches our successful competition cheer squads - the BTCDS Vipz, Stars, Iconz & Celebritiez.
Faja Sharp
Competition Choreographer
Faja is a graduate of Butler Tech School of the Arts. She has coached many dance teams all around Cincinnati. Faja has been dancing since she was 5 years old. After high school she attended Miami University and was a member of the dance team. Later, she became a judge for Ohio regional dance competitions. Faja’s specialties are lyrical, modern, contemporary and jazz.
Elizabeth Warner
Competition & Recreational Dance Instructor
Miss Elizabeth started dancing when she was 4 and danced at Dance Etc. for 15 years in Milford, OH where she started in recreational classes, then competed for 10 years. She took jazz, acro, ballet, lyrical, hip hop and pointe. After she graduated she taught at Dance Etc. for 7 years. This is her first year at Behind the Curtain Dance Studio. She really enjoys watching her students grow and learn new skills. Seeing their excitement for dance class makes her want to continue doing what she loves and spreading the joys of dance!
Anissa Enigk
Recreational Dance Instructor
Anissa is a graduate of Greenon High School. She attended Stars In Motion Studio of Dance in Huber Heights and earned an officer position on the studio team, competing for 4 years. Anissa was a member of the Wayne High School Warriorettes her freshman year, and was also a member of their competition team. After high school, Anissa attended Clark State where she continued to study ballet and tap. She also assisted with classes at the studio and coached the studio mini team. She has choreographed both solo and group routines for cheer and dance. Anissa’s training in dance has included jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, pom, kickline, and drill team. She has been helping backstage at recitals for Behind The Curtain since 2016. She is married and has two daughters.

Kate Osborne
Tap Instructor
Kate Osborne was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio where she found a love for dance at the age of seven years old. Kate was trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, and tap dancing. Although she competed in all genres of dance at the age of eight, tap dancing found the way to her heart. Kate competed through the age of 18 and began teaching her own classes at the age of 19. Kate moved to Springfield, Ohio in 2014 and is raising two children with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with family, read, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors. Kate has successfully completed college and has an Associates Degree in Private Investigation, a Bachelors in Social Science, and is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology while having a full time job. She loves challenges, peace, and helping others.
Kera Spencer
Acro & Cheer Instructor, Instagram Guru
Ms. Kera has been a student at BTCDS for 8 years. She has experience in cheer and acro. She has competed on our competition cheer squad for many years and this year she joined our competition dance team. She completed our student teaching program last season and has started teaching acro classes this season. She loves to laugh and loves Harry Styles.
Kaitlin Musick
Instructor
Kaitlin began dancing and acting from a very young age, and knew she wanted to make it a career ever since. Kaitlin graduated from Wittenberg University with a BA in dance. She loves teaching and performing, especially in musicals! Her favorite style to dance is musical theatre/ fosse jazz! Coffee, makeup and fashion are also things she enjoys. Kaitlin’s top priorities are making everyone feel included, loved and special!
Morgan Stage
Recreational Dance Instructor
Morgan began teaching for BTCDS in 2014 when the studio first opened! She has been dancing since she was 3. She graduated from Wittenberg University in 2016 with a degree in early childhood and special education. She is now a third grade and special education teacher. Morgan's background in dance includes ballet, pointe, tap, and jazz with ballet being her main focus. She recently moved back to Springfield with her fiancé and her dog, Waffles and is so excited to be back at BTCDS!
Tiffany Groves
Recreational Hip Hop Instructor
Tiffany is a 2016 graduate of ECOT. She has been with Behind The Curtain Dance Studio for 8 years as a student and helper. Her dance background includes jazz, hip-hop, acro and ballet. This is her first year as a recreational hip-hop I teacher. She assists Ms. Mariah in some classes as well. Aside from dancing she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, family and family dog Kane. She also enjoys crafts and baking. In the Fall of 2022 she plans to attend Clark State for Early Childhood Development.
Abbie Hawke
Recreational Instructor
Abbie has been a part of the theatre/dance community for 8 years, and is working on getting her Associates in Theatre Performance. Although acting is her forte, she enjoys the musical theatre side of dance, and also loves contemporary. She’s looks forward to working with these amazing teachers and kids!

Birthday Parties!
Birthday Parties can be booked for students and non students! This includes 45 minutes of dance instruction and 1 hour 15 minutes for cake and presents! Email us for a quote! behindthecurtainds@aol.com
Covid-19 Procedures
Right now the lobby is OPEN, under these conditions:
- ONE adult per student is allowed in the lobby, no extras, no siblings unless they are attending class.
Students cannot attend if they have or have had a fever or cough or have been exposed to anyone with the virus.
